Rotobrush Coil Cleaning: The Atlanta Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Rotobrush-compatible coil cleaning assemblies for most residential and commercial systems, with most Atlanta jobs running between $240 and $410 installed. If your Rotobrush system is losing suction or the coil looks fouled, we can usually get you back in service the same week. The typical call starts when the brush head stops spinning under load, or the suction drops enough that dust stays on the duct walls instead of coming out. You’ll hear the motor strain, see debris left behind, or notice the coil pack itself looks caked with matted lint and grease. We match the right coil by your Rotobrush model and shaft diameter, not by guesswork, so you’re not paying for a part that half-fits.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
Kestrel Air Duct Atlanta is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Rotobrush. We service coil replacement and compatibility for the older air-powered units still in circulation across Atlanta, plus the more common electric-drive models. Rotobrush has used different coil configurations over the years, and the big compatibility gotcha is shaft diameter. Some early units take a 5/16-inch square shaft, while later models run 3/8-inch. If you order the wrong one, the coil seats loose, spins off under load, and tears up the housing. That’s the single most common mismatch we see on Atlanta service calls. We check the shaft size and coil outer diameter before anything goes on the truck.

Signs Your Rotobrush Coil Cleaning Is Failing
- The brush head stops spinning under load. The coil has stretched or lost tension, so it slips on the shaft instead of transferring torque. You’ll hear the motor run but the brush barely moves.
- Suction drops noticeably. A cracked or collapsed coil lets air bypass the brush chamber, which means debris stays in the duct instead of getting pulled into the capture bag.
- Visible matting or grease on the coil itself. Atlanta humidity bakes household dust and cooking oils into a paste that sets hard on the coil surface. Once it’s that far gone, agitating it doesn’t clean anything.
- A rattle or thump when the system runs. The coil may have a broken segment or a loose set screw. Small, but it’ll chew up the housing if you keep running it.
- You’re going over the same section twice. A dull or unwound coil can’t get the contact it needs at the duct wall, so you end up re-cleaning the same run and still not getting it clean.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For most Rotobrush coil cleaning jobs in Atlanta, you’re looking at $240 to $410 installed, with the part itself typically running $85 to $160 and the labor making up the rest. The spread depends on which coil your model takes and whether the housing or set screw needs attention while we’re in there. Every quote is one flat price per job, written down and handed to you before we start, no per-vent nonsense and no surprise line items at the van door. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing, and if the coil fails within that window we come back and make it right at no charge. Dale Whitmore keeps a written checklist for every job and leaves a copy with you before we go.
DIY or Call Us?
Rotobrush coil replacement is not a high-tension or electrical hazard the way a garage-door spring is, but it’s also not a casual five-minute swap. If you can measure the shaft and coil diameter and feel comfortable working with a set screw under the housing, you may be able to order the right part and do it yourself. Where DIY goes wrong is when the coil is the symptom, not the cause. We’ve opened units in Atlanta where a failing bearing was the real culprit, and the new coil lasted six months before the same failure came back. If you don’t want to spend your Saturday chasing the wrong fix, call (470) 378-1006 and we’ll figure it out the first time.
FAQs
In our experience, a coil used regularly in Atlanta’s humid climate lasts two to four years before it loses tension or loads up with set-in debris. We also stock coil cleaning parts and compatibility guidance for select Lennox, Trane, and Carrier systems when we’re already on-site.
Sometimes a loose set screw is all it is, and we’ll tighten and reseat it on the spot. But once a coil is stretched, cracked, or heavily matted, there’s no honest repair and replacement is the only fix worth paying for.
Most coil replacements take under an hour once we’re on-site, as long as the housing and shaft are in good shape. We’ll tell you before we start how long yours will take, and we leave the work area cleaner than we found it.
We carry the most common Rotobrush coil sizes and shaft diameters on our trucks, so we can usually finish the job in one visit. For less common or older models, we’ll order the exact match and schedule the install once it’s in hand.
